Overview
Executive Director – Main Street Preservation Trust (MSPT)
Salary: $75,000 – $95,000 (commensurate with experience)
The Main Street Preservation Trust (MSPT), a nationally accredited Main Street program guided by the Main Street Four Point Approach, is seeking a visionary and strategic Executive Director to lead the continued revitalization, economic development, and historic preservation of downtown Gloucester, Virginia.
This leadership role will guide long-term planning, downtown investment strategy, preservation initiatives, and community partnerships that strengthen Gloucester’s historic Main Street district and position it for sustainable economic growth.
Key Responsibilities- Lead strategic downtown revitalization initiatives
- Build partnerships with government, investors, developers, and community stakeholders
- Advance economic development and redevelopment projects
- Support historic preservation, streetscape, design, and way finding initiatives
- Identify grant and funding opportunities
- Support board governance, accreditation, and organizational sustainability
- Collaborate with Gloucester Main Street Association (GMSA) and Gloucester Community Loan Fund (GCLF)
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- 4–7 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management, economic development, real estate, or related fields
- Strong communication, organizational, and partnership-building skills
- Experience working with boards, public-private partnerships, and strategic initiatives
- Knowledge of historic preservation, downtown development, or commercial real estate preferred
