Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator

World Help is a Christian humanitarian organization serving the physical and spiritual needs of people in impoverished communities around the world. We are searching for a devout follower of Christ whose worldview correlates with the company's mission and values.

The Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator serves as an overseer of World Help's volunteer program - recruiting, scheduling, hosting, and leading its network of volunteers. In addition, this role assists the broader Humanitarian Aid Team with the planning and coordination of outreach events, special projects, and community engagement initiatives. Together, these responsibilities allow the Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator to ensure that World Help is leveraging its volunteer network effectively, while also maximizing its impact in the community and abroad.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Host all volunteer events as able, including prepping the processing room for each shift, providing introductions to new groups, giving instruction on workflow, and spending time engaging with the volunteers during events.
  • Recruit new individuals and groups to volunteer through community engagement, networking opportunities, and recruitment events.
  • Cultivate current volunteer relationships by sending thank you cards, emails, and program/impact updates.
  • Research, identify, and collaborate with the Development Team on new ways to honor and celebrate our volunteers, while also working to connect them at a deeper level with World Help.
  • Research, identify, and collaborate with the Marketing Department on new and/or better ways to showcase and market the Humanitarian Aid program and its community engagement initiatives.
  • Set and manage the scheduling, registration, and check-in/out workflows of new and existing volunteers.
  • Manage Liberty University's CSER (Community Service) volunteers to ensure we provide the necessary opportunities and feedback that is required by the university.
  • Lead the Volunteer Coordinator Interns in the fall and spring semesters, approving their hours, overseeing their workflows, and collaborating with them on proposed Humanitarian Aid projects in addition to their duties of helping facilitate volunteer events.
  • Plan and communicate the details/logistical needs with the entire team to ensure the facility and team is ready and prepared for each event/shift, ensuring the prep checklist is complete.
  • Research, identify, and report on volunteer mobilization opportunities, i.e., leveraging our network to meet needs throughout our community.
  • Assist the Humanitarian Aid team with researching grant opportunities, relaying any relevant information to the Humanitarian Aid Program Manager.
  • Assist the Warehouse and Logistics Coordinator in the warehouse with tasks such as processing, wrapping, staging, and/or loading inventory as directed by Humanitarian Aid Program Manager.
  • Assist on floor as necessary to help process, package, and ship inventory according to priorities set by the Humanitarian Aid Program Manager.
  • Work with the team to ensure the warehouse is always clean/safe for guests & volunteers.
  • Any additional duties needed to drive World Help's mission, vision, and organizational values.

Your Time:

50% - Volunteer Facilitation

  • Coordinate and facilitate events/shift activities, utilizing volunteers to collect product information and perform quality/quantity controls.

20% - Volunteer Relations & Development

  • Cultivate relationships with existing volunteers at a group and individual level.

20% - Volunteer Administration

  • Recruit & schedule volunteer times each week and maintain an accurate record of volunteer information and hours worked.

10% - Community Engagement Initiatives

  • Implement and execute community engagement initiatives, including events and sponsorship.

Required Skills/

Education:

  • Networking experience.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of others.
  • Clear verbal and written communication.
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Preferred Skills/

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Business Management, Project Management, or related field).
  • 2-3 Years' project management, administration, or inventory management experience.
  • 1-2 Years' team environment experience.
  • CDL or forklift experience.

Miscellaneous:

  • Requires sitting & working on feet for long periods of time.
  • Minimal travel.
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed.
