The Clinical Nurse Educator – Critical Care Unit is responsible for coordinating, planning, executing, evaluating and providing education activities and orientation programs to nursing staff. Planning will be in collaboration with the Professional Practice & Development team. Updates and facilitates nursing competencies, policies and procedures and special projects as assigned. The Clinical Nurse Educator – Critical Care unit will serve as a resource to nursing leadership, staff and preceptors in the areas of nursing process, clinical knowledge and skills.
This role will have a dotted line to the Director for Professional Practice & Development.
Provide education activities and orientation programs to nursing staff; collaborate with the Professional Practice & Development team on planning; update and facilitate nursing competencies, policies and procedures, and special projects; serve as a resource to nursing leadership, staff and preceptors in nursing process and clinical knowledge and skills.
Requirements- Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or obtain in 24 months upon hire
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience as a practicing registered nurse or adult nursing educator
- Specialty certification within 2 years preferred
- MSN or Master’s Degree in related field preferred
- Able to communicate well with customers (employees, volunteers, MDs and their personnel, managers, peers, community groups, and individuals) both verbally and in writing: able to hear normal conversational tones and read normal print.
- Able to speak clearly and fluently in English.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in nursing practice and knowledge of adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated interest in professional organizations and other sources of career and knowledge development.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with individuals and groups.
- Demonstrated self-direction, creativity, intellectual curiosity, and accountability.
- Able to use PowerPoint, Excel and Word independently
