How You Will Contribute:
  • Coordinate and supervise the facility’s nursing staff, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Provide direct client care, take physician orders, prepare, and administer resident medications, and coordinate outside diagnostic or medical services as ordered by the physician.
  • Serve as the Infection Control Designee.
  • Lead nursing team including hiring, training, coaching and performance management.
  • Assess suicide/homicide risk and create clinically appropriate interventions.
  • Identify abuse/neglect in client population.
  • Chart vitals, daily assessments, group notes, shift notes, and enter physician orders.
  • Complete comprehensive nursing assessments and aid in the development of treatment plans.
  • Perform physical assessments including vital signs and recognize symptoms and distress of clients in treatment.
  • Administer medications; provide education to clients and families; complete medication orders/refills per physician’s orders.
  • Provide medication management oversight, ensuring accurate accounting of medication charting, procedures, and training for all nursing staff.
  • Manage nursing area ensuring medications are secured and only authorized individuals have access.
  • Document all admission/discharge nursing duties within required time frames.
  • Document assessment of abnormal involuntary movements (AIMS) in clients receiving antipsychotic medications.
  • Work closely with vendors and contractors providing clinical services (pharmacy, lab, biohazard pick up, etc.) to ensure proper communication and procedures.
  • Demonstrate proper management of biohazards.
  • Oversee and perform daily vital signs/glucose monitoring of clients.
  • Oversee medical issues daily and report issues to Nurse Practitioner as needed.
  • Oversee and perform medication distribution and documentation.
  • Order medication and ensure proper delivery from pharmacy.
  • Work with insurance companies on patient medications, complete insurance forms, and call as needed.
  • Oversee and perform blood draws, following up on lab values as needed.
  • Takes medication orders from MD/NP conducts daily medication order follow up.
  • Maintain medical supply inventory, place supply orders as needed.
  • Coordinate external client medical appointments with team members.
  • Ensure effective communication between medical/nursing staff, medical vendors, and C.N.A/Behavioral Technician team.
  • Work closely with registered dietitians on client weight restoration needs/issues.
  • Monitor all labs/EKGs/other tests and communicate results with medical providers.
  • Oversee all pharmacy paperwork/forms, including controlled substances.
  • Oversee infection control program and quarantine program for staff/clients.
  • Maintain biohazard accounts and procedures, ensuring team members are trained on and adhere to infection control procedures.
