The LPN Outpatient provides practical nursing support under the direction of a physician or advanced practice provider in a clinic setting. The role involves delivering safe, efficient, and patient‑centered care through a variety of clinical tasks and coordination of services.

• Perform patient assessments, including vital signs, chief complaint, and medication reconciliation.
• Prepare patients for provider evaluation, including specimen collection, positioning, and assistance during exams and procedures.
• Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider.
• Document patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record, including treatment updates, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns.
• Provide patient education related to medications, treatments, and follow‑up care as directed by the provider.
• Assist with referral authorizations and pre‑authorizations for tests and ancillary services.
• Maintain exam, treatment, and lab areas in a clean and safe condition and ensure supplies and equipment are available.
• Perform laboratory‑related tasks as applicable, including specimen collection, preparation, and basic testing following appropriate training and quality standards.
• Perform radiology‑related tasks as applicable, including assisting with imaging procedures and ensuring proper safety precautions and documentation.
• Adhere to infection control, safety standards, and proper handling and disposal of specimens and materials.
• Support telehealth services, including tele‑retinal and tele‑dermatology setup as applicable.

• Education:
  
  Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required, or a new graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam.
• Experience:
  
  None.
• Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:
  Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Limited Radiologic Technician license required for roles performing radiology functions.
• Life Support:
  Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required.

  Minimum Qualifications:
  
  Strong customer service orientation; effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to problem‑solve and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals; proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems.
