Licensed Practical Nurse

Licensed practical nurses performing duties ranging from entry level to first line supervision. Employees provide a variety of patient care activities such as administering medications, maintaining patient records, and assisting in the treatment and direct care of patients. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides fundamental physical and psychological nursing care to patients as part of the multidisciplinary team in accordance with the facilities mission, Virginia Department of Corrections Standards, physician, and patient expectations.

Pay: $26-$36/hr

• The scope of services involves assisting in direct patient care.
• Applies knowledge of principles and practices of practical nursing and pharmacology acquired through formal education and training.
• Work impacts the quality of practical nursing care and patient comfort
• Successful application of skills results in positive patient outcomes.
• Receives guidance, direction and supervision from an R.N., nursing supervisor, manager, medical professional, or administrator.
• May take venipuncture specimens. Work requires some discretion and judgment and is clearly defined by the licensure regulations.
• May supervise or provide work direction to nursing aides or direct service.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

• 1 year of prior LPN experience required, corrections experience preferred.
• A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required.

• Current LPN License
• IV Certification within 90 days of employment
