The Registered Nurse in Home Health coordinates and directs the provision of home nursing care according to physician orders. Care is provided based on agency policies and procedures through the competent application of the nursing process. This role includes direct supervision and evaluation of Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses. Home visits and periodic office meetings are required. Candidates must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and agency-required liability insurance.
The average patient load is 5-10 patients per day. Each visit and related activity has a specific point value contributing to weekly productivity expectations. There are no guaranteed hours for this position; if patient census is low, there may be opportunities to float to nearby clinics. Responsibilities may include start of care, wound care, follow-up visits, and more. Candidates must be open to potential weekend and on-call rotations.
The position requires travel within a 75-mile radius from the assigned clinic. Documentation must be completed within 24 hours of each appointment. All travelers are required to be proficient in the necessary charting systems and have recent experience in the field. Local candidates are accepted at the same rate. This position does not allow for first-timers; recent specialty experience is required.
