Infusion RN - Oncology Care Leader in Outpatient Center

Overview

The Infusion Services Department provides safe, high-quality outpatient treatment and supportive therapies for patients with cancer, chronic illnesses, and other complex medical conditions. Our experienced team of oncology‑certified nurses, providers, pharmacists, and support staff is dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient‑centered care in a comfortable and healing environment. The Infusion Center is open Monday‑Friday 8am‑4:30pm.

• Biologic and specialty medications

• Supportive treatments and injections
• Central Line Management

• Clinical Nurse II (RN)
• Clinical Nurse III (RN)

• Assist the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.
• Recognize changes in patient situations and intervene appropriately.
• Mobilize resources to meet the individualized needs of patients and families.
• Provide direction, education, and assume leadership responsibilities at the unit level.
• Deliver and accurately document direct, age‑specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.
• Safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and interactions.
• Serve as a role model in a clinical setting and provide instruction to novice staff.

• Current RN licensure in Virginia or an eligible compact state.
• Current RN licensure in Virginia, AHA BLS HCP certification or equivalent for continued employment.
• Follow documented physician/licensed independent provider orders; practice within regulatory boundaries of nursing in Virginia.

• Minimum of 2 years RN experience (prefer infusion experience) for Clinical Nurse II.
• 12 to 24 months RN experience for Clinical Nurse II.
• 3 years of clinical experience for Clinical Nurse III.
• Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner for Clinical Nurse I preferred.
• Academic health care experience and experience with similar patient populations preferred at Clinical Nurse II and III levels.

• Diploma or Associate’s Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the state Board of Nursing.
• All RN candidates without a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or higher) required to enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of hire and complete within five years (unless grandfathered).
• Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher from an accredited program preferred.
• Certification in a specialty area preferred for Clinical Nurse III.

• All clinicians work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Shift rotation and hours may adjust to meet unit requirements.
• Physical requirements:
  
  lifting 20–50lbs, prolonged standing or sitting, frequent bending, walking, climbing steps or ladder, reaching overhead, repetitive tasks.
• Mental/sensory: strong recall, reasoning, problem‑solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, logical thinking.
• Emotional: fast‑pace and steady‑pace environment, ability to handle multiple priorities, frequent intense customer interactions, noisy environment.
