* Job Summary:

** CNA’s provide quality nursing care to residents; implement specific procedures and programs; coordinate work within the department, as well as with other departments; report pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; respond to inquiries or requests for information; provide resident quality assurance, assist the immediate supervisor with tasks to support department operations.
** Additionally:
** Performs other appropriate related and unrelated assigned duties.
** JOB SPECIFICATIONS

* Education:

** High School Diploma or equivalent; prefer successful completion of a West Virginia state-approved Nursing Assistant Certification course
** Licensure/Certification:
** Nursing Assistant Certification in West Virginia; a current CPR and First-Aid certification card

* Experience:

** Six months' prior nursing assistant/aide experience in long-term care preferred
** Zero Tolerance:
** Successfully pass background and drug tests.

* Must have knowledge of elementary math (ex. counting trays)
* Follow oral and written instructions
* Ability to work in a team environment

* Interact effectively with residents, guests, supervisors and peers
* Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working with persons who are ill, disabled, elderly, and/or emotionally upset
* Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment
* Follow safety regulations, reporting injuries or unsafe conditions and work practices to supervisor
* Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns
* Follow acceptable standards of personal hygiene and comply with department dress code
* Possess a fundamental understanding of sanitation and cleanliness
* Regular, punctual and dependable attendance
* Provide assistance to and work directly with staff, residents, family of residents, visitors, government agencies and the general public
** DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*** Provide individualized attention, which encourages each resident's ability to maintain or attain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. Provide resident quality assurance.
* Knowledgeable of the individualized care plan for residents and provide support to the resident according to the care plan. Contribute to the care planning process by providing the charge nurse or other care planning staff with specific information and observations of the residents' needs and preferences
* Attend to the individual needs of residents which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, transferring, ambulation, range of motion, communicating, or other needs in keeping with the individuals' care requirements
* Maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of each resident in the delivery of services to them. Interact with residents in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment
