Medical/Surgical - Med Surg RN – Travel Nurse

Join Total Med as a Medical/Surgical RN for an immediate travel nurse opening in North Chesterfield, VA. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of recent acute‑care experience and is prepared to work in a fast‑paced, surgical environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre‑ and post‑op cases.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication; report any adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
• Educate patients and families about surgical procedures and post‑operative care.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plans as prescribed.

Qualifications:

• BLS certification.
• 1 year of RN experience in an acute‑care setting.
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 20 lbs routinely; able to handle up to 50 lbs when necessary.
• Strong communication skills and capacity to work with patients who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative.
