As a registered nurse (RN) at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, you will consistently deliver the best in care and customer service, demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues. You will assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages, utilizing delegation and critical thinking skills in a team‑oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.

The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimum outcomes. Age‑specific admissions and ongoing assessments are completed, documented, and used to develop a plan of care that is revised as patient status changes. Treatments and medications are accurately administered and documented through automated computer systems, including electronic medical records. Patient and family educational needs are identified and integrated into the plan of care.

In addition, you will contribute to Carilion Clinic’s performance improvement activities, serve as a patient advocate, protect patient rights, and provide psychological, social, and cultural support. You will apply knowledge of growth and development to care for patients appropriately, demonstrate clinical expertise in rapidly changing circumstances, and develop strategies to reduce length of stay and improve patient outcomes. You will serve as a role model for clinical practice, manage resources, establish priorities, and support evidence‑based quality care.

You will also participate in orientation of new employees, provide feedback to staff, and contribute to unit, hospital, and system activities that facilitate staff input in decision‑making.

• Education:
  
  Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or an approved nursing program, eligible to sit for the Virginia RN licensure examination.
• Licensure:
  Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
• Life Support: AHA BLS‑HCP required; may be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit.
• Computer skills:
  Proficient with electronic medical record (EPIC).
• Other minimum qualifications:
  Ability to lead or support evidence‑based, quality patient care service and performance improvement initiatives.

Compensation Range: $33.52 - $50.28 per hour, based on qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The range does not include benefits or pension plan.
