American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications, plus night shift and on-call availability.
Details- Combined unit servicing L&D (vaginal & cesarean), post-partum, antepartum, and Level II nursery
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7p-7a)
- On-call requirement of 36 hours within a 6 week block
- Level II inpatient obstetrical and Level II NICU neonatal patient population
- Also cares for GYN/medical overflow, antepartum, observational triage, mother baby couplet care, and border babies
- Performs procedures such as versions, IOL, cervical ripening, IUFD care and bereavement, and OR cesarean sections
- Staffing ratios vary by acuity: 1:1 for complications or active labor, 1:3 for stable antepartum, 1:1-2 for unstable antepartum, 1:3-4 couplet care, 2:1 for deliveries, and 1:2-3 for NICU level II
- Floating outside specialty utilizes general nursing skills to assist as helping hands
- Active RN license (VA or Compact) currently in hand
- Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
- Any EMR charting system experience accepted
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, Pitocin administration, and antepartum care and procedures
- Experience with obstetrical triage and C-section recovery
- bCPAP skills preferred
- Provides labor and delivery management including medication administration and patient triage
- Candidates who previously worked a permanent role at this facility within the past 24 months will not be considered
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- RTO requests must be submitted in advance and included in assignment confirmation documents
- Holiday coverage expectations scale with the number of holidays falling during the assignment
- Zero-tolerance drug policy including no acceptance of medical marijuana cards
- Fit testing required, including shaving policy unless a provider-approved exemption is obtained prior to start
- First-time travelers considered only if they have 2 years of L&D experience
