American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a combined L&D, postpartum, antepartum, and Level II nursery unit requiring ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications.

• Combined unit servicing L&D (vaginal & cesarean), postpartum, antepartum, and Level II nursery
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• On-call requirement of 48 hours within a 6-week block
• Level II inpatient obstetrical and neonatal patient population
• Cares for GYN/medical overflow, antepartum, observational triage, and mother-baby couplet care patients
• Involved in OB procedures such as versions, IOL, cervical ripening, IUFD care, bereavement support, and C-sections
• Staffing ratios vary: 1:1 for active labor/complications, 1:3 for stable antepartum, 1:1-2 for unstable antepartum, 1:3-4 for couplet care, 2:1 for deliveries, and 1:2-3 for Level II NICU
• May float outside specialty to assist as helping hands using general nursing skills

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Certifications required: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRP
• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
• Charting system experience required (any system)
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skilled in medication administration including Pitocin (oxytocin)
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with antepartum care, procedures, and obstetrical triage
• Experience recovering C-section patients preferred
• bCPAP skills preferred

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across L&D, postpartum, antepartum, and Level II nursery settings
• Assist with obstetrical procedures and support patients through bereavement care when needed
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
• Zero-tolerance drug policy in place; medical marijuana cards not accepted
• Fit testing required; candidates must be clean-shaven or provide an approved medical exemption letter prior to starting
• Holiday coverage expectations scale with the number of holidays falling within the assignment
• Candidates who previously worked in a permanent role at the facility within the past 24 months will not be considered
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted for this position
• First-time travelers may be considered only if they have 2 years of L&D experience
