POSITION TITLE: Substitute School Nurse

FLSA: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Superviso

• Holds a current Registered/Practical Professional Nurse License in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Minimum of two years supervised nursing experience in Community Health
• Current Certification in CPR

• Dispense medication following guidelines
• Performs first aid; treat minor illness following guidelines
• Perform specialized medical procedures
• Document student immunization records
• Notify the parents by note or telephone call any time a child is seen in the clinic if the illness or injury warrants further observation
• Assess for communicable diseases
• Perform screenings (vision, blood pressure, height, weight)
• Screen new students who enter during the school year
• Ensure that Individualized Health Care Plans are completed as necessary

• Maintains confidentiality
• Participates in crisis intervention
• Maintains OSHA standards in the clinic
• Presents and communicates in a professional manner
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor
