American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position on an innovative 32-bed unit requiring 2+ years of experience and a VA or compact RN license.

• Work on a 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit focused on adopting new technology and innovative nursing practice models
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation required, including one summer and one winter holiday
• Staff are assigned to self-scheduling groups that rotate weekly
• Required to float at times to cover staffing needs
• Meditech charting system preferred

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, peripheral line care, oxygen administration, oral suctioning, feeding tube care, colostomy/ileostomy management, PCA and insulin administration, isolation precautions/PPE, and telemetry monitoring
• Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, central line blood draws, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, and rapid response/code team experience
• Drug screen required during compliance and again on first day onsite
• Fit testing required, including shaving facial hair unless an approved medical exemption is obtained prior to start

• Provide direct patient care on a unit known for early adoption of new equipment and nursing practice models, including use of Hercules beds
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates who previously worked a permanent position at the facility within the past 24 months will not be considered
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• RTO policy: if one holiday falls within the assignment expect to work it, if two holidays expect to work one, if three holidays expect to work two
• Zero-tolerance drug policy in place; medical marijuana cards are not accepted
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
