Ready to Bring Your Nursing Skills Where They Matter?

Are you a Registered Nurse who believes nursing is about more than paperwork and checking boxes?

At Love & Loyalty Home Care, we are growing our developmental disability services program and are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and knowledgeable Registered Nurse who can provide nursing support when an individual's needs or Individualized Service Plan call for it.

This is a great opportunity for a nurse who enjoys assessment, education, advocacy, care coordination, and helping a team provide better support.

What Will You Do?

Registered nursing services are not part of the routine staffing pattern for our non-center-based day support program. Nursing services are provided when an individual's assessed medical needs or Individualized Service Plan require them.

When needed, you may:

  • Conduct nursing assessments.
  • Monitor an individual's health status and identify changes or concerns.
  • Provide health-related consultation and recommendations.
  • Provide medication oversight when applicable.
  • Develop or contribute to health-related interventions.
  • Provide health education to individuals, families, and Direct Support Professionals.
  • Train and coach staff on health-related needs and appropriate responses.
  • Communicate with physicians, healthcare providers, families, and the individual's support team.
  • Support appropriate emergency and health-response procedures.
  • Complete accurate and timely nursing documentation.
  • Provide other nursing services appropriate to the individual's medical needs and Individualized Service Plan.
  • Support quality improvement and safe service delivery.
How the Nursing Role Works

Nursing services will be provided through a qualified Registered Nurse licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia, either through a contracted nurse or an appropriate referral arrangement.

The nurse will work collaboratively with the individual's support team to make sure nursing services are appropriate, individualized, and connected to the person's assessed needs and Individualized Service Plan.

What Do You Need?

We are looking for a Registered Nurse with:

  • A current and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Virginia.
  • Appropriate nursing education and experience for the responsibilities of the position.
  • Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Strong assessment, communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of person-centered care and individualized service planning.
  • Ability to educate and coach Direct Support Professionals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals, families, healthcare providers, and other professionals.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks and applicable screenings.
  • Willingness to complete applicable Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services training.
You Might Be Our Person If...

You have experience with:

  • Developmental disability services
  • Community-based nursing
  • Pediatric or adolescent nursing
  • Health assessments
  • Medication oversight
  • Staff health education
  • Individualized Service Plans
  • Care coordination
  • Virginia developmental disability services
What Makes a Great Nurse Here?

We want someone who can look at the whole person and ask:

“What does this individual need to be safe, healthy, and as independent as possible?”

Someone who notices the little things.

Someone who can explain health information clearly to a family.

Someone who can teach staff with patience.

Someone who knows when a concern needs attention and is willing to speak up.

Most importantly, someone who sees the person before the diagnosis or disability.

Why Love & Loyalty?

Because your nursing skills can do more than treat a problem.

You can help an individual feel safer.
You can give a family peace of mind.
You can help staff feel more confident.
You can help someone maintain greater independence.

That is nursing with purpose.

You’ll also have the opportunity to support a growing developmental disability program in the Northern Neck and work alongside a team that values compassion, teamwork, accountability, and quality care.
