Performs manual labor, semi-skilled, and technical work in landscape maintenance, ornamental horticulture, and/or construction and maintenance of County grounds and facilities. Serves as a lead worker assisting in the training and direction of entry-level seasonal employees. Operates a variety of hand and power tools to perform landscaping, construction, and custodial duties.

• Operate hand and power tools for landscaping, construction, and custodial tasks.
• Assist in training and directing entry-level seasonal employees.
• Perform work outdoors under all weather conditions, ensuring safety and compliance with county regulations.

• High school graduate or equivalent and 2-3 years of related experience, or any combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with a good driving record.
• Must be licensed as a Certified Pesticide Applicator (State Category 3a and 3b) or able to obtain such license within 6 months of employment.
• Dependable and in good physical condition; safety shoes required.

• Work performed outdoors with exposure to hazards associated with outside maintenance and construction work.
• Essential Position (County designation: ALPHA), requiring employee to report to work during inclement and extreme weather conditions, often outside normally scheduled work hours, or as notified by a supervisor.
• DMV records and criminal background checks conducted prior to employment.
• Physical Demands:
  Ability to operate machinery and equipment (lawn mower, weed eater, chipper, edger, blower, chainsaw, hand tools, etc.), operate motor vehicle, heavy lifting and carrying, bending, stooping, standing, walking.
