Location: Covington
Duties
Duties listed are at performance grade GS-04 level.
Serve on a wildland fire crew assigned to an engine, handcrew, or helitack module to suppress the full range of difficulty and complexity of fires.
Patrol areas of controlled fires to mop-up by searching out and extinguishing any remaining burning material. Move dirt, chop brush, fell small trees, etc., to construct fireline.
Use hand tools such as axe, shovel, Pulaski, McLeod, and power saws to prevent and control the spread of wildland fires.
Operate specialized fire suppression equipment such as portable pumps or drip torch.
May be assigned to other resource management activities such as fuels, recreation, timber, or reforestation when not performing fire suppression duties.
