Assist the Store Manager in the total operation of the convenience store at the direction of the Store Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Help Store Manager train all sales associates as outlined in the “New Employee Training Program”
  • Delegate duties to the sales associates as needed
  • Have complete knowledge of the Employee Handbook and refer to it as necessary
  • Understand store security guidelines and procedures and know how to reach the Store Manager, Supervisor, and Director of Operations at all times of the day and night
  • Work opposite shift from the Store Manager unless instructed otherwise by the Store Manager, Supervisor, or Director of Operations
  • Conduct themselves in a businesslike manner in the store with other employees and customers and refer questions or problems they cannot answer to the Store Manager
  • Ensure that all company policies and rules as outlined in the Employee Handbook are followed at all times
  • Assist manager with staffing the location with properly trained personnel who have a positive attitude toward customers, fellow employees, and the company in general
  • Ensure that the store and forecourt are maintained in a clean and orderly manner at all times
  • Assist manager with keeping the store stocked with product authorized by the various department heads and ensure all promoted product is properly displayed each month to maximize sales and profits
  • Assist manager with ensuring all employees are practicing the customer service guidelines with all customers as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Accurately complete the daily book work closeout, enter all necessary information into the back‑office system, balance the cash for the day, and make a bank deposit each day of the week
  • Assist manager in ensuring all employees adhere to the safety guidelines as stated in the Employee Handbook
  • Operate the cash register, handle cash and credit transactions accurately, and assist customers with item selections
  • Ring all sales immediately when a customer approaches the sales counter and never keep a customer waiting while performing other tasks
  • Use suggestive selling as directed by the Manager and place customer purchases in an Apple Market bag
  • Operate the fuel console to make fuel purchases easy and accurate for customers; pay close attention to the fuel islands to reduce the risk of fuel “drive offs”
  • Have complete knowledge of guidelines for selling alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and lottery to ensure no sale to under‑age customers
  • Report any loitering or suspicious activity to the Manager immediately
  • Replace and fill merchandise on shelves and in coolers as required; keep store aisles free of litter, boxes, and hazardous items; report any product that does not scan or scans at an incorrect price to the Manager daily
  • Report any accidents involving employees or customers to the Manager immediately, complete an incident report, and fax the report to the corporate office as soon as possible
  • Complete the daily shift balance report at the end of each shift
  • Do not smoke inside the store; use the designated outside area for smoke breaks
  • Merchandise purchased for personal use must be paid for immediately and a receipt kept as proof of purchase
  • Report any malfunction of equipment by placing a work order in Helpdesk Pro on the store computer
  • Keep the drink bar clean and stocked during each shift and always have fresh coffee available for customers
