Role Description The Equipment Salesperson is a full-time, on-site role based at Rocky Mount Tractor in Rocky Mount, VA. This role is responsible for engaging customers in person and by phone, understanding their equipment needs, and recommending suitable tractors, implements, and related products. Daily activities include preparing quotes, processing sales orders, coordinating equipment delivery or pickup, and following up with customers to ensure satisfaction.
The Equipment Salesperson will maintain product knowledge, keep current with promotions, collaborate with parts and service departments, and help organize the showroom and lot. The role also involves maintaining accurate records in the sales system, participating in inventory checks, and supporting occasional events or demos to promote the company's equipment offerings.
Qualifications
- Strong sales and customer service skills, including the ability to build relationships, understand customer needs, and close sales effectively.
- Solid product knowledge or strong interest in learning about agricultural, construction, or lawn equipment and related accessories.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical information in a clear, approachable manner.
- Basic computer proficiency for using CRM or sales software, email, and standard office applications.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage quotes, contracts, and inventory-related documentation accurately.
- Ability to work on-site, move around the lot and showroom safely, and occasionally assist with light equipment handling as needed.
- Prior experience in equipment, automotive, or industrial sales is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in business, sales, or related fields are a plus.
