Colonial National Historical Park is recruiting for summer seasonal positions to assist permanent staff with Biological Science Technician field work.
Typically, the seasonal entry‑on‑duty period is November‑April, but may be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty date:
November 2026.
Applications must be submitted by 11:59 (EST) on 07/20/2026. The position is open to the first 50 applicants. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit, your 2‑page resume must clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the number of hours worked. Resumes must not exceed two single‑sided pages, and only the latest submission will be reviewed.
Qualifications for the GS‑07 grade level- One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑06 level in the federal service.
Examples: research activity or control program work; nursery work with controlled environments; large dairy farm production records; planning and implementation of resource‑management censuses; statistical data testing; operating and maintaining resource‑management equipment; preparing graphs and reports; organizing and executing natural resource projects. - One full year of graduate‑level education directly related to biological sciences (must include transcripts).
- Equivalent combination of experience and education that together equal 100 % of the above qualification standards.
- One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑08 level.
Examples: designing and conducting experiments, field identification of biological information, administering project segments, maintaining laboratory production levels, analyzing and consolidating reports, developing new procedures. - Two full years of progressively higher‑level graduate education leading to a master’s degree, or a master’s degree, in a field directly related to biological sciences (must include transcripts).
- Equivalent combination of experience and education that together equal 100 % of the above qualification standards (note: only education in excess of what is required at the GS‑07 level will count toward combinations).
Volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations is considered qualifying experience and may provide credit for the role.
ICTAP / CTAP StatementCurrent surplus and former displaced federal individuals with special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Eligibility requires meeting all OPM qualification standards, selective placement factors, special qualifying conditions, and a well‑qualified rating on all competencies.
