Job Description
Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) is a two‑year public institution of higher education in Virginia. We are looking for a dedicated and responsible Part‑Time Security Officer to maintain the safety and security of all college buildings and grounds at our Buena Vista office. The position requires approximately 20 hours per week, primarily during evening hours.
Responsibilities- Maintain the safety and security of all college buildings and grounds.
- Open and lock facilities, perform routine security patrols inside and outside campus buildings.
- Monitor campus activities to ensure a secure environment.
- Respond promptly to any suspicious persons or events.
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, and visitors.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support campus safety.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Qualifications- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in all situations.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and nights.
