• Provide safety and security for the public, staff, and supervises, ensuring effective custody and control in compliance with policy and procedure.
• Apply evidence-based practices and collaborative, multidisciplinary teamwork to meet supervisee needs and enhance communication.
• Maintain security of adult supervises at the institution and during transport.
• Supervise daily activities of supervises, observing and recording behavior and movement to ensure safe confinement.
• Interact with visitors, staff, supervises, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations.

• High School Diploma or a GED equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend workplace policies and procedures, and to prepare reports and documentation.
• Ability to lawfully possess a firearm in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Ability to complete all pre-employment requirements, including medical screening, background check, and drug testing (including marijuana screening).

• Stable employment history.
• Military or related criminal justice experience.
• Coursework at a community college, college, or university.
• Individuals at least 21 years old (waiver available for 18‑20 year olds).
• Bilingual applicants encouraged.
