Police Officer
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Police Officer in the Campus Police Department. The Police Officer is responsible for helping maintain a safe and secure campus environment. Primary duties include patrolling campus grounds and buildings, responding to calls for service and community concerns, enforcing federal, state, and college laws and regulations, and providing security at campus events, including social functions and athletic competitions.
Minimum Requirements Education- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Working knowledge of the Virginia Code.
- Ability to obtain authorization to carry a firearm.
- Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is preferred.
- Virginia DCJS Law Enforcement Officer certification is preferred.
- Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
This position requires the ability to stand and sit for extended periods; walk and drive regularly; use both hands for routine and emergency tasks; bend, stoop, twist, and climb stairs and ladders; and lift or move heavy objects as needed to perform essential job functions.

LocationThis position is based in Wise, Virginia, situated in the far southwestern corner of the state near the Kentucky and Tennessee borders.
Salary$46,000 - $52,000; depending on qualifications and experience.
