Job Overview

The Telecom Foreman is responsible for installing communications cabling and equipment in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and standards. The ideal candidate will have experience installing equipment using hand and power tools, understanding telecom systems, reading blueprints, and knowledge of relevant codes and standards. Telecom Foremen are full-time employees with company benefits.

Responsibilities

Knowledge and safe use of hand tools and various power tools.

Wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Following safety policies and procedures.

Participating in daily safety and work briefings.

Installing various types of low voltage cable.

Managing small to large projects involving 5 or more personnel across multiple locations.

Consulting with senior management and supervisory staff to resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction issues.

Scheduling projects to meet deadlines within budget.

Interpreting and explaining plans and specifications to field workers.

Knowledge of BICSI and TIA/EIA standards for installation and termination procedures.

Terminating, testing, and troubleshooting low voltage cabling (fiber optics, Cat 5, Cat
6).

Installing pathways and cable trays.

Installing telecommunications devices and grounding systems.

Training and supervising technicians and apprentices.

Performing quality assurance checks on team’s work.

Maintaining a clean work area and participating in job site cleanup.

Maintaining a full tool set as per company standards.

Securing tools and materials daily.

Preparing information packages for each crew activity.

Submitting daily reports on hours and units worked.

Qualifications / Skills Sets / Expectations

At least 8 years of experience in the commercial communications industry.

High School diploma or GED.

BICSI Technician certification.

Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Ability to pass background check and drug test.

Reliable transportation to and from the job site.

Ability to pass basic telecommunication knowledge test.

Punctuality, teamwork, and safety awareness.

Proper attire including long pants and shirts covering shoulders (not provided by the company).

Basic tools from the provided list prior to employment start date.

Physical Abilities

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform physical tasks such as climbing, walking, and working at heights.

Ability to use ladders and maintain balance on scaffolds and lifts.

Good vision (corrected if necessary), color discrimination, and hearing.

Capability to recognize problems and apply rules to solve them.

Desired Skills

Willingness to obtain BICSI Technician Certification if not already certified.

Manufacture and fiber certification experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
