Job Summary:The purpose of this job is to provide skilled electrical services to install, modify, maintain, and repair electrical systems in school facilities.
Essential Duties- Performs maintenance and repair work on school buildings, facilities, and structures; completes work and ensures safety, aesthetics, proper functioning and operations, and compliance with applicable codes, standards, policies, and practices.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in buildings, including underground cables and overhead wiring. Installs electrical equipment, conduit, wiring, fixtures, switches, and receptacles.
- Inspects, troubleshoots, assembles, installs, connects, repairs, adjusts, and tests a variety of electrical systems. Troubleshoots complex electric systems to include but not limited to frequency drives, theater lighting, athletic lighting, kitchen equipment, cleaning equipment, lighting packages, etc. Installs and maintains complex lighting systems including both fluorescent and LED fixtures. Installs and troubleshoots electrical devices associated with HVAC systems, including: boilers, chillers, cooling towers, motors, and electric heaters.
- Performs preventive maintenance tests to ensure electrical proper installation and operation. Evaluates equipment and building systems and ensures that systems comply with electric codes. Tests, repairs, and calibrates electric equipment, meters, relays, etc. Replaces and repairs switches and receptacles. Diagnoses, replaces and maintains electric motors.
- Operates various types of hand tools, power equipment, and machinery in the performance of varied skilled trades work. Maintains and performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment. Maintains and procures an appropriate inventory of electrical supplies to ensure continuity of service.
- Performs other repair and maintenance tasks as directed to support the overall needs of the Maintenance Department. Utilizes a work order management system.
- Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals including immediate supervisor, coworkers, district and school administrators, staff and students.
- Performs other related work as required.
- Responds to emergency calls.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and two (2) years of advanced skilled trades experience required.
Master or Journeyman's license preferred.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

As an electrician: performs medium to heavy work that involves walking, standing, kneeling, bending, crawling, and climbing ladders or scaffolding virtually all of the time.
