Electrical Technician

Applies electrical theory, related knowledge, and advanced troubleshooting skills to maintain and repair operational electrical/electronic machinery and electrical control equipment and circuitry by performing the following duties.

• Diagnoses cause of electrical/electronic malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Plans, directs, and records periodic electrical testing, and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.
• Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains all of the plant electrical and electronic systems in all areas of the plant.
• Performs a wide variety of electrical/electronic installations and maintenance on plant systems.
• Works with precision test equipment to test and diagnose problems with electrical/electronic equipment and machinery in the plant.
• Constantly watches over machines, tools, and areas assigned ensuring they are being maintained in top condition.
• Repair and/or replace defective electrical and electronic controls, wiring, hardware, and apparatus.
• Maintain and follow technical procedures as pertains to specific systems and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

One year certificate from college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Relay logic
• AC/DC motor and drive theory
• Transformer theory
• PLC experience
• Ability to work overtime as needed and on-call rotations

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
