Scale Wage for State Jobs: $18.00 - $53.00 per hour (as per state scale wage requirements)
Job DescriptionFrancis O. Day Co., Inc., a leading paving and excavation company operating in Maryland and Virginia, is seeking an experienced Bobcat Operator to join our Asphalt Crew. The Bobcat Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of skid-steer loaders (Bobcats) to support asphalt paving operations. This includes site preparation, material handling, and cleanup to ensure smooth paving operations and jobsite efficiency.
Requirements- Proficient in operating skid-steer loaders (Bobcats), including attachments, in an asphalt paving environment.
- Must have strong verbal communication skills, and the ability to read and write.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Must complete and comply with all Safety Training and company-provided training.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Collaborate effectively with foremen, crew members, residents, and customers.
- Maintain a verifiable and consistent work history.
- Follow the daily instructions of the Foreman and contribute to task completion.
- Perform pre-operation safety and maintenance inspections.
- Assist in the setup and cleanup of job sites.
- Safely load, unload, and transport equipment as needed.
- Operate Bobcat for various asphalt-related tasks such as grading, back filling, and material distribution.
- Keep job site clear of debris and excess materials.
- Advise the Foreman of any maintenance needs or equipment issues.
- Participate in routine maintenance and upkeep of equipment.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by foreman or superintendent.
- Frequent sitting, climbing, and hand use to control and operate equipment.
- Occasional standing, walking, crawling, kneeling, and overhead reaching.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50-75 lbs. occasionally.
- Must react quickly and appropriately to sudden jobsite changes or hazards.
- Ability to work in varied outdoor weather conditions for extended periods.
- Must wear protective or safety gear consistently.
- Outdoor worksite setting.
- Frequent exposure to heavy equipment, asphalt, and machinery.
- Must be available to work both day and night shifts as required.
