The Pipeline Laborer performs physically demanding tasks in support of pipeline and utility construction projects. This role assists crews in preparing job sites, installing infrastructure, operating tools and equipment, and maintaining safe and productive work environments.

The Laborer works under field leadership to execute project requirements while adhering to safety, quality, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute assigned work in accordance with project specifications and field direction.
  • Support safe, compliant installation of pipeline and utility infrastructure.
  • Prepare job sites to optimize construction workflow and productivity.
  • Dig trenches and assist with pipe and drainage installation.
  • Perform plastic pipe fusion and Operator Qualification (OQ) tasks when certified.
  • Erect temporary structures and traffic safety controls as directed.
  • Remove debris, waste materials, and hazards from job sites.
  • Load and unload equipment, materials, and tools.
  • Clean, maintain, and properly store construction equipment.
  • Fill potholes and support site restoration activities.
  • Follow all safety standards and incident reporting procedures.
  • Assist in training apprentices and new team members.
  • Use hand and power tools to cut, shape, and prepare materials.
  • Communicate job site concerns to field leadership promptly.
Education & Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in pipeline, gas, or utility construction environments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of gas installation practices and safety standards.
  • Operator Qualification (OQ) certifications preferred.
  • Plastic pipe fusion certification preferred.
  • Experience performing physically demanding field work.
This role requires sustained physical activity in outdoor construction environments, including:
  • The position lifts heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Digging, pushing, pulling, and manual material handling.
  • Working in variable weather and field conditions.
  • Strong stamina and physical endurance.
