Diesel Mechanic

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the safe operation, repair, rebuilding, and maintenance of company-owned or leased heavy‑duty diesel trucks and equipment, including rolling stock. The primary goal is to ensure all equipment is in top condition and operates safely at all times.

• Diagnose and repair operational difficulties with heavy‑duty diesel trucks and equipment, including heavy diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated vehicles.
• Plan and schedule repairs using the M5 planner and procure all necessary parts.
• Complete reports, work orders, and part orders daily; assist in reviewing mechanical write‑ups and coordinating repair schedules.
• Ensure safe working conditions and comply with all safety regulations and applicable laws.
• Assist in the training and orientation of new employees.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the latest technology through technical manuals, seminars, and testing.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED; a technical diploma is preferred.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a diesel mechanic.

  Skills:
  
  Experience using diagnostic software is a plus; must be computer literate and willing to be trained on new software systems.
• Safety Standards:
  Must meet relevant criteria for safety‑sensitive functions according to company standards.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to understand and use repair and parts manuals written in English.
  • Ability to operate all vehicles and equipment necessary for the job.

  Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, and lift/push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and varying weather conditions (hot/cold/humid).
  • Must possess, provide, and maintain the tools necessary for heavy/hydraulic equipment maintenance.
