Job Description

The HVAC Technician/Maintenance Worker will be required to install, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment and use the Building Automated System (BAS) to monitor systems in all Augusta County Schools.

Reports to: Executive Director of Maintenance and Operations

FLSA: Exempt

Classification: N6 Scale – 260 days per year, 8 hours per day.

Qualifications
  • Must possess a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • At least one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
  • CFC Certification (Type I/II) required.
  • CFC Type Universal preferred.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Learn locations of all HVAC equipment and how they relate to each building.
  • Maintain and repair all HVAC equipment and components to manufacturer recommendations (valves, motors, belts, bearings, filters, lubrication, etc.).
  • Learn the basics of equipment management controls to start, stop, view status or change conditions on HVAC systems.
  • Complete and close out Work Orders on the online system.
  • Replace bearings and seals on centrifugal pumps; change bearings on fan systems, motors and pump shafts.
  • Run the boiler and chiller plants to maintain system temperatures and equipment run times through BAS.
  • Familiar with cooling tower operations and repair potential problems.
  • Boiler troubleshooting, repair, and cleaning experience would be valuable (preferred, not required).
  • Service, install, repair and replace single and three‑phase refrigeration systems (mini‑splits, split systems, chillers, packaged units, etc.).
