Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Walmart is an authorized Department of Defense (DoD) Skill Bridge industry partner, supporting transitioning Service members as they prepare to move into the civilian workforce. Through Skill Bridge, eligible Service members can complete a hands‑on fellowship during their final 180 days of service, gaining training, development, and real‑world experience aligned to in‑demand roles across Walmart’s business. Who can apply:
Active‑Duty Service members of any rank, enlisted or officer, may apply for entry‑to‑mid‑level opportunities. Senior‑level consideration may be available based on a candidate’s applicable industry experience and transferable military background. Participation requires command approval and adherence to all DoD Skill Bridge guidelines.
Compensation and Benefits:
Participants are not eligible for compensation from Walmart while on active duty and will continue to receive military pay, allowances, and benefits from the U.S. Government during the Skill Bridge period.
Candidates complete a 12‑week, site‑based fellowship focused on maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, equipment reliability, facility systems, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and material handling systems while learning about the Maintenance Technician role.
Position SummaryWalmart is actively recruiting Skill Bridge fellows for the Maintenance Technician – Supply Chain opportunity. Participants gain hands‑on field experience, mentorship, and exposure to how maintenance technicians support reliable equipment, systems, and facility assets in a Walmart supply‑chain environment.
Job Duties- Learn maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and equipment reliability practices in a supply‑chain facility
- Assist with equipment walks, work order reviews, preventive maintenance routines, and troubleshooting activities
- Gain exposure to safety procedures, lockout/tagout awareness, PPE, tool usage, and work order systems
- Observe and assist with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and root cause analysis
- Work alongside maintenance leaders, technicians, subject matter experts, and mentors through guided observation and feedback sessions
- Active‑Duty Service member eligible for DoD Skill Bridge
- 18years or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work safely in a supply‑chain maintenance environment
- Ability to complete required safety and technical training
- Ability to meet physical requirements associated with maintenance work, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and using tools or equipment as assigned
TEMPORARY ROLE:
Not to exceed 180 days; duration aligns to the approved Skill Bridge window.
