Salary Range: $32.50 To $42.41 Annually
The Virginia Spaceport Authority is seeking a skilled and motivated electrical technician at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS). Applicants with electrical experience are encouraged to apply. Must have experience with machine bending conduit. This is a full-time permanent position with competitive pay and benefits.
JOB DESCRIPTION General DescriptionTechnicians will support electrical maintenance across all MARS facilities, Launch Pads, and Airfield in order to maintain an operationally ready state.
Responsibilities and Duties- Receive and execute field direction for maintenance activities, alteration, repair, launch preparation and operations, and post launch assessment and securing.
- Attend formal training as directed to pursue required certifications
- Support alternate shifts as needed during missions and customer requests.
- Comprehend and complete required paperwork as written.
- Maintain a tidy and functional worksite.
- Provide input to functional and operational upgrades including design, training, tooling, etc.
- Perform tasks safely, efficiently, and in accordance with VSA/MARS Safety, Quality, and Management Policies and Directives and adherence to Policies and Directives.
- Operate ground support equipment including fork-lifts, man-lifts, boom-lifts, and tow tractors as required in the performance of assigned tasks.
- Communicate delays and team needs to Technician Supervisor or Technician Lead
- Perform other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma is required. Technical training from an accredited training school or military service school is preferred.
Job-Related
Experience:
Experience in the performance of operations, maintenance, alteration, and repair of complex mechanical, fluid/hydraulic, pressure systems, structural maintenance and corrosion control, HVAC systems or Electrical systems. Must have or possess the ability to obtain certification as a NASA Level 1 High Pressure Operator. Must have formal training and certification for operation of fork-lifts, scissor man-lifts, and boom-lifts.

Licenses, etc.:
Valid driver's license is necessary when operating a vehicle while on agency business.
Must possess knowledge of advanced mechanical systems and devices including their principles of operation and functional design or demonstrate the ability and progression to obtain such knowledge. Demonstrate the proper use of hand and power tools (including torque wrenches, precision measuring devices) and maintenance support equipment (vacuum and pressure pumps, jacks and lifting devices, access equipment) used in the operation, maintenance, alteration, and repair of pneumatic, cryogenic, hydraulic, electrical, HVAC, and other liquid, and control systems.

Work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching, or crawling in restrictive areas.
Work EnvironmentWork involves moderate discomforts which require special precautions, e.g. working around moving parts, carts, or machinery, working with irritant chemicals, conducting field work in various outdoor weather conditions. Work environment involves significant risks with exposure to potentially danger or extremely adverse conditions which require a range of safety and other precautions, e.g. fieldwork on launch pads, near high pressure and cryogenic systems, near extremely energetic materials (which at MARS launch pads)
Must be able to obtain and maintaineligibility for issuance of a NASA credential.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
