Media Specialist Manager New River Community College Job Description

New River Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under a state-wide system of 23 community colleges. The college is located on a one-hundred-plus acre site at the intersection of U.S. Routes 11 and 100 in Dublin, Virginia with an instructional site in Christiansburg. The campus provides modern, well-equipped facilities for the career technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs.

Approximately 4,000 students comprise the student body.

Duties:
  • Manage the implementation, installation, and maintenance of all equipment in electronic classrooms, auditoriums, and boardrooms.
  • Evaluate and recommend purchases to meet the video production and media service needs, while maintaining departmental budget.
  • Manage the development, production, and direction of the college’s live stream and video production.
  • Communicate with internal and external entities to ensure proper preparation for on-campus events and meetings.
  • Oversee all live audio/video/light production of events held on campus.
  • Supervise full-time, part-time, and student workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology Support Services.
  • Provide or schedule support for evening and weekend events.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Experience with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer and audio/visual equipment, as well as equipment associated with electronic classrooms.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in management or team leadership.
  • Extensive understanding of audio, video, and live production.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of live sound production and familiarity with various mixing consoles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of broadcast production switcher technology, such as Broadcast Pix, New Tek, AJA, Black Magic, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Windows and Mac OS, Android, and iOS devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner in a team-oriented environment.
Additional Considerations

Additional factors that may be considered include:

  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience with AV control systems.
  • Experience working with and deploying audio-visual systems in higher education settings.
  • Demonstrated experience with Crestron, Extron, or other leading AV integration platforms.
  • Audiovisual certifications, such as Crestron CTI/MCP.
  • Knowledge of video editing software such as Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
  • Experience in live audio/video/lighting production.
