Location: Jeffersonton
Farm and Building Maintenance (Part-Time) $17-18/hr, Mon-Thurs. 9am-3pm
Location: Jeffersonton, Virginia
Starting Pay: $17.00–$18.00/hour to start (depending on skill and experience; higher starting pay possible for highly skilled carpenters or mechanics)
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. (24 hours/week)
We are seeking a dependable, hands‑on Farm and Building Maintenance team member to support outdoor grounds, buildings, and equipment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, respects nature and wildlife, and takes pride in keeping a property safe, functional, and well‑maintained in all seasons.
Responsibilities- Maintain grounds and outdoor areas through routine mowing, trimming, edging, brush clearing, and seasonal cleanup
- Operate outdoor power equipment (gas and electric) including riding mowers, string trimmers (hand‑held and walk‑behind), leaf blower, snow‑blower, tiller, and power washer
- Operate small tractor equipment (example: Kubota with bucket/field mower/bush hog/rake) as trained/assigned
- Perform basic painting projects (fences, doors, buildings) and surface prep as needed
- Complete basic carpentry repairs such as fences, gates, deck boards, railings, shelving, and landscape‑timber borders
- Clean gutters and assist with roofline maintenance using ladders and safe work practices
- Use and maintain hand tools and power tools (saws, drills, air compressor, grinder, grease gun, post hole digger, etc.)
- Assist with material movement and organization, including use of a pallet jack; keep tools and work areas neat and organized
- Recognize and report repair needs; perform minor repairs when appropriate and within scope
- Coordinate professionally with hired contractors on small jobs when needed
- Use basic computer skills to communicate by email, place online orders, and research supplies/parts
- Follow specific instructions and complete tasks as requested, even when you would choose a different approach
- Support whatever is needed to keep the property operating smoothly; contribute practical, creative solutions to everyday maintenance challenges
- Valid Virginia driver’s license and clean driving record
- Strong respect for nature and wildlife; safety‑first mindset
- Honest, mature work ethic; reliable and self‑motivated with the ability to work independently
- Willingness and ability to follow detailed instructions and accept supervision and instruction from women
- Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
- Ability to safely operate or learn to operate outdoor equipment and basic hand/power tools
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized workspace and treat equipment/tools with care
- Must be free of drugs/alcohol while working and able to meet client safety expectations
- Forklift experience/ability to safely operate a forklift
- Ability to identify when repairs or preventive maintenance is needed
- Ability to communicate professionally with contractors and vendors
- Basic computer skills (email, online ordering, internet searches)
- Must be able to frequently move and transport materials and tools weighing up to 60 pounds
- Must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions year‑round, including hot, cold, rain, and snow
- Must be able to position self to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in awkward positions to complete maintenance and repair tasks
- Must be able to ascend/descend ladders and work at heights to perform tasks such as gutter cleaning using safe practices
- Must be able to communicate with supervisors, follow directions, and exchange accurate information
- Often work outdoors; work spaces may not be temperature‑controlled and may include very hot or very cold conditions
- Exposed to equipment and tools daily, including power tools and outdoor machinery
- May be exposed to distracting or uncomfortable noise levels from equipment and machinery
- May require working in bright sunlight, dim lighting, and uneven terrain
- Work near others at times and may share work spaces depending on the task
