Position Summary
The Parent Resource Aide serves as a liaison between families and the school division, providing support to parents and caregivers of students receiving special education services. This position helps families understand the special education process, promotes meaningful family engagement, and connects parents with school and community resources to support student success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide individualized assistance to parents and caregivers of students receiving special education services.
- Explain special education documents, procedures, and timelines in a clear and supportive manner.
- Assist families in understanding their rights and responsibilities under special education laws and regulations.
- Connect families with appropriate school personnel, community agencies, and available support services.
- Serve as a resource to families by answering questions and helping navigate the special education process.
- Build positive relationships with families, school staff, and community partners.
- Represent the school division at Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT) meetings.
- Coordinate and provide transportation assistance to families, when necessary, to ensure participation in FAPT meetings or other school-related meetings.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and records while ensuring confidentiality of student and family information.
- Communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, related service providers, and outside agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education, human services, social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with children, families, or individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of special education processes and regulations is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with families from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel within the school division as needed.
- Contract Length: 180 days

Part-time - Starting pay $18.16 per hour
