Minimum Qualifications

This position will be for the 2026 school year, beginning August 25, 2026, and ending on June 4, 2027. High school diploma or GED; college degree preferred; three years of experience in working with children or teenage groups; preferably to include experience in working with troubled youth; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to counsel socially and emotionally maladjusted youth;

with some knowledge of substance use interventions and harm reduction methods. Ability to work effectively under stress and exercise good judgment in non-routine situations. Must be able to complete First Aid/CPR training and Handle with Care Restraint training. Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months.

Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, Virginia Department of Social Services background check and education/degree verification required. This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Duties

Duties will be for the Adolescent Day Reporting Program. Follow and assist in implementing developed service plans; conduct groups with youth regarding substance use interventions and harm reduction methods; complete general documentation and activity reports; supervise youth; supervise and participate in daily meal preparation; assist youth with school assignments; transport youth to and from activities. Perform other work as required.

Shift

Approximately 20 hours/week;
Monday - Thursday between 9:00 a.m.

- 2:00 p.m.; 9 months (school year)
