The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is seeking a Family Services Supervisor II to provide oversight and supervision of our Family Services Support team! We’re seeking a visionary leader to guide a unit dedicated to providing comprehensive, strengths-based, and solution-focused support for pregnant and parenting women with substance use disorders, their children, and their support networks.
What You Do and How You Do It:
As the Family Services Supervisor II, you will oversee a program that empowers families and transforms lives! You will engage stakeholders and community partners to develop cross-system partnerships and will monitor and evaluate program performance. A key responsibility is completing administrative statistical reports, compiling team data, and complying with grant requirements. You will establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with community providers and offer outreach, education, and training to community partners who serve our customers.
Providing trauma-focused, reflective supervision to a passionate team to foster growth, resilience and excellence in case management will help you shape the team dynamics. The position includes supervisory duties such as assessing training needs and coordinating development opportunities to improve case management quality. You will review and assign cases and referrals, consult with colleagues on service delivery and review staff documentation, including case contacts, court reports, and service plans.
You will attend various meetings, from committee and workgroup meetings to agency-wide and leadership meetings. Your advocacy and problem-solving of barriers and unmet community needs will complement your leadership style. Finally, you will complete developmental and administrative tasks such as participating in training, interviewing, and onboarding new staff. Perform other work as required.
Here's What You Need:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field or minimum of a bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area (Section 22
VAC
40-670-20 of the Administrative Code of Virginia). - Considerable experience in assigned program area/human services programs and completion of required training programs.
- Supervisory experience or work experience in a leadership role.
- Or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Possession of a BSW or MSW degree, Commonwealth of Virginia Certified Substance Abuse Counselor certification, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor are desirable.
We're Looking for Ideal Candidates Who Have (Preferred Qualifications):
- Considerable knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations relating to the various direct service programs to include substance use disorders and knowledge of kinship caregiver programs are strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of Child Welfare practices in child protective services, permanency and foster care is preferred.
- Knowledge of substance abuse treatment and etiology, family and group dynamics including extensive knowledge of a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities and ability to perform same preferred.
- Ability to and knowledge of accessing community resources such as housing, mental health and substance use disorder services, employment, medical care and other benefits preferred.
- Ability to develop and implement new programs and Standard Operating Procedures is strongly preferred.
- Excellent organizational, time management, oral/written communication, interpersonal, public relations and supervisory skills preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional critical thinking and decision-making skills during crisis situations preferred.
- Computer competency required; proficiency in OASIS and Safe Measurespreferred.
- Experience with managing and reporting grand funding.
- Exceptional ability to collaborate and achieve performance goalspreferred.
