Assist the head coach with organizing the program at the assigned school. Conduct practices, motivate students, and instruct student athletes in game strategies and techniques.

• Prior successful coaching experience at the secondary level preferred

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively and maintain composure under pressure.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.

• Assist the head coach with instructing players in rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the designated sport.
• Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.
• Assess players’ skills, monitor players during competition and practice, and keep the head coach informed of athletic performance.
• Develop fundamental skills needed for player growth.
• Assist with determining game strategy.
• Assist the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.
• Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury, working collaboratively with the Athletic Trainer.
• Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
• Follow established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
• Follow established weight room maintenance and safety.
• Distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach.
• Assist the head coach with submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season as requested.
• Participate in special activities such as parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep rallies.
• Perform support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
• Complete all student-athlete safety training requirements and work collaboratively with the Athletic Trainer.
• Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds;

ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.

Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non‑licensed personnel.
