CDL Driver​/Dispatcher

Dispatcher/Driver – responsible for driving a CDL Class A commercial vehicle and coordinating pickups and deliveries to ensure timely and accurate product distribution.

Compensation: $19.25 per hour.

• Monitors drivers on duty and coordinates trucks for efficient pickup and delivery.
• Schedules loads according to priority and available equipment.
• Monitors and schedules company sanitation employees.
• Works with the garage to prioritize repairs.
• Maintains excellent communication between all departments.
• Receives incoming calls from farms and drivers and handles issues accordingly.
• Logs all transportation and production issues.
• Maintains department records such as DVIRs, on‑time tracking and departure schedules.
• Monitors Samsura for on‑time tracking and departure.
• Works closely with the transportation supervisor to dispatch and assign loads.
• Drives a CDL Class A commercial vehicle and hauls loads as needed.
• Ensures compliance with all Smithfield Hog Production policies, including environmental and safety policies.
• Assists with special projects as assigned.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• For internal candidates with 4+ years of experience, the company may waive educational requirements.
• CDL Class A license and 1 year of driving experience required.
• Previous dispatch experience preferred.
• Ability to work well in a team‑based environment with limited supervision.
• Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft software.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule; day, night and weekend work required.
• Ability to work well with others in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

The position is primarily sedentary with occasional standing and walking. Employees must be able to climb stairs to reach work areas, have adequate vision for close and distance tasks, and adjust focus as needed.
