Job Description

Title: Substitute Bus Driver

Primary Function: Transporting Students

Qualifications: Good driving record, Must pass physical and drug test, Commercial driver's license (CDL). Please note if you do not currently have a CDL License with a P & S endorsement, you may have to wait until we offer the training classes required.

Physical Demands / Requirements

Frequent sitting and/or stooping, and lifting up to approximately 60 pounds of equipment and/or students.

Reporting To

Director of Business and Finance

Performance Responsibilities

Comply with safety rules and motoring regulations and laws.

Conduct pre-trip inspections, maintain safety equipment, report unsafe bus conditions, and keep bus clean.

Stop at authorized stops only.

Complete required forms and reports accurately and timely.

Maintain bus schedule.

Promote and maintain orderly behavior on bus, based on mutual respect.

Handle behavior problems individually when possible. Uses tact and understanding.

Use good judgment and common sense in carrying out responsibilities and solving problems.

Cooperate with administration, parents and other transportation employees in maintaining efficient and effective transportation system.

Demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance.

Communicate effectively, using good grammar.

Practice confidentiality of work-related matters.

Follow established school board policies and regulations.

Participate in professional development activities, as requested.

Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Terms of Employment

10 month contract, non-exempt FLSA status; salary will be established annually by the School Board.

Evaluation

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
