A well-established construction company serving California's Central Valley is looking to add an experienced accounting professional to its team. With a strong track record of delivering commercial, industrial, and public works projects, the organization has built a reputation for quality, accountability, and long-term client relationships.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate project financial reporting, supporting operational decision-making, and maintaining the financial health of active construction projects. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where your work directly impacts project success, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
The OpportunityConstruction accounting is significantly different from traditional accounting, and this role offers the chance to take ownership of project-related financial activities that help keep operations running smoothly. You'll collaborate closely with project managers, operations leaders, and executives to monitor job costs, analyze project performance, and ensure financial accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys digging into the numbers while remaining connected to business operations. You'll have visibility across multiple projects and the opportunity to contribute meaningful insights that drive business decisions.
What You'll Do• Manage job cost accounting and maintain accurate project financial records for multiple construction projects.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, work-in-progress schedules, reconciliations, and project analysis reports.
• Review contracts, change orders, billing activity, and subcontractor payments for accuracy and compliance.
• Analyze project budgets, forecast variances, and provide financial insights to project management teams.
• Partner with leadership to support month-end close, audit preparation, and continuous process improvements.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, including construction or project-based accounting.
• Strong understanding of job costing, contract accounting, percentage-of-completion reporting, and project financial analysis.
• Experience with accounting software such as Sage, Vista, Foundation, Quick Books, or similar ERP systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to create reports, analyze data, and manage large spreadsheets.
• Join a financially stable construction organization with an established reputation in the Central Valley market.
• Gain exposure to leadership and play an important role in project and operational decision-making.
• Work within a collaborative environment where accounting and operations work closely together.
• Take ownership of meaningful projects with opportunities to expand responsibilities as the company continues to grow.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys balancing detailed accounting work with broader business involvement. Success in this role comes from understanding both the financial and operational side of construction projects and being comfortable communicating with stakeholders across the organization.
Whether your background includes commercial, residential, industrial, or civil construction, this position offers the chance to apply your expertise in an environment where your contributions are visible and valued. You'll work alongside experienced professionals who understand the importance of accurate financial reporting and how it contributes to successful project execution.
