Librarian IV

Overview

We are looking for a librarian to manage our main branch in Visalia. Candidates should be innovative, community-focused, customer-oriented, and dedicated to effective practices while embracing innovation and creativity.

• Plan, organize, and manage the main library or a region with system‑wide responsibilities.
• Prepare a variety of correspondence, grants, reports, surveys, statistics, and budgets.
• Conduct research and stay up to date on library programs and services.
• Develop and recommend changes to policies, procedures, personnel, budgets, and services.
• Work with the county, community groups, schools, and other resources representing the library.
• Plan, organize, and supervise staff and various special projects.

• Graduation from an American Library Association accredited institution with a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent.
• Five (5) years of experience as a librarian with demonstrated growth in supervision and management responsibilities, including at least one year in a supervisory role equivalent to Librarian III.
• A year as a library paraprofessional with demonstrated growth in supervision and management responsibilities can substitute for one year of librarian experience.
• Experience managing and supervising a branch library and assisting with system‑wide programs and services is desirable.
• Position is primarily onsite with occasional outreach and work‑from‑home opportunities.
