Position SummaryThe Program Leader I is responsible for the daily operation and implementation of Pro Youth’s after-school program at an assigned Self-Help Enterprises (SHE) community center. The Program Leader supervises and engages school-age youth of varying ages while maintaining a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment. Responsibilities include opening and closing the community center, preparing program spaces, and facilitating academic support, enrichment, recreation, and youth development activities.
The Program Leader also supports community and family events and promotes the program within the SHE community to increase awareness, participation, and student attendance. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate daily attendance records, completing required program documentation, entering attendance data, and fulfilling all CACFP snack distribution and meal count requirements. The Program Leader maintains program supplies and equipment, builds positive relationships with students and families, and serves as Pro Youth’s primary on-site representative while ensuring all Pro Youth and SHE policies, procedures, and safety requirements are followed.
Role and Responsibilities
- Support student mastery of new skills through project-based learning
- Maintain a culture of safety and well-being with students in both the classroom and outdoor setting
- Establish clear, consistent expectations for behavior and positive discipline.
- Ensure that every student feels known, accepted, valued and respected.
- Build and maintain a high level of trust through effective communication methods.
- Model and promote the mission and values of Pro Youth through appropriate appearance, words and actions.
- Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g., classroom, playground, library, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing SHE and Pro Youth expectations and procedures regarding student behavior and participation and/or providing a safe, respectful and positive learning environment.
- Work in conjunction with the Site Director and all program staff to ensure that activities are exciting and relevant to youth as well as well-thought out and organized.
- Address issues, concerns, and challenges to immediate supervisor
- Build and maintain a high level of trust through effective communication methods.
- Model and promote the mission and values of Pro Youth through appropriate appearance, words and actions.
- Build positive and professional relationships with SHE community members, coworkers, supervisors, Pro Youth executive and administrative staff
- Participate as a positive team member for the purpose of enhancing and sharing knowledge and skills for the delivery of best practices.
