Position DescriptionThe Field Tech Lead plays a key supporting role in ensuring the efficient operation of our RNG facilities and all associated equipment involved in biogas handling, upgrading, cleanup, and combustion processes. This role entails performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various equipment while coordinating with team members and business partners to maintain seamless operations.
Responsibilities- Oversee on-site operations ensuring that all equipment and systems are operating as designed while maximizing facility up-time.
- Conduct routine and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning of RNG facilities and associated equipment.
- Perform upgrades, retrofits, and repairs on equipment as required.
- Troubleshoot issues related to equipment operation and functionality, employing a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Coordinate with team members and external partners to address technical challenges and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Operate and service a diverse range of equipment, including but not limited to large internal combustion engines, PLCs, data loggers, biogas blowers, 3-phase motors, and electrical wiring.
- Commission new equipment and oversee modifications to existing systems, adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.
- Maintain spare parts inventory.
- Utilize maintenance tracking software.
- Communicate via email, text, and phone with team members, clients, and business partners as necessary.
- Maintain a safe working environment and comply with safety procedures.
- Support and mentor junior field technicians.
- Assist with team coordination and scheduling as needed.
- Work closely with direct supervisor on performance reviews, interviews and hiring, team strategy, and producer/client interactions.
- Advanced mechanical and electrical experience required (3-5+ years).
- Demonstrated analytical thinking with an ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems in a timely manner.
- Proven experience in the maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical and electrical equipment, preferably within an industrial setting.
- Familiarity with PLCs, data loggers, biogas blowers, 3-phase motors, and electrical wiring systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment, demonstrating adaptability and initiative.
- Strong communication skills across various channels (verbal, phone, email, and text).
- Commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance in all aspects of facility operations.
- Must be proficient in English. Proficiency in Spanish is helpful but not required.
- Must possess a valid US driver's license.

Physical Demand RequirementsThis job mainly operates in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, etc. Noise level may be loud at times and works around moving mechanical or construction equipment.
Physical DemandsMust be able to move objects of at least 50 lbs., and use leg, abdominal, and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.

Starting hourly range $30 - $38;
Commensurate to Skills and Experience.

Non-Exempt Compliance NoteThis position is classified as non-exempt under California law. The role is paid hourly and is eligible for overtime, meal and rest breaks, and all other non-exempt protections under CA Labor Code and IWC Wage Order 4. All hours worked must be tracked accurately.
