A well-established California community bank is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager or Senior Portfolio Manager to support and grow a diverse agricultural and commercial lending portfolio.

This role blends commercial credit expertise with relationship management, allowing the successful candidate to partner directly with agricultural clients while providing sophisticated underwriting, portfolio management, and business development support.

Responsibilities

• Manage and retain an assigned commercial and agricultural loan portfolio
• Develop trusted relationships with borrowers
• Perform commercial underwriting and credit analysis
• Structure and recommend lending solutions
• Complete annual reviews and renewals
• Monitor covenant compliance and portfolio performance
• Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships
• Support business development and referral generation
  
  Participate in customer meetings and industry events
• Collaborate with relationship managers and credit partners

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 5+ years of commercial or agricultural banking experience
• Direct Farmer Mac lending experience required
• Strong commercial credit and underwriting background
• Financial statement analysis expertise
• Experience managing customer relationships
• Comfortable balancing analytical work with client-facing responsibilities
• California agricultural lending experience strongly preferred
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred Portfolio Experience

Experience financing:

• Tree nuts
• Citrus
• Row crops
• Vineyards
• Produce operations
• Agricultural processing
• Food manufacturers
• Other commercial agricultural businesses

Not a Fit If You

• Have only underwriting experience with no customer interaction
• Lack Farmer Mac experience
• Prefer purely analytical roles
• Have no agricultural lending background
• Are uncomfortable with business development or relationship management
• Are unwilling to travel throughout the Central Valley

Compensation

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus a performance-based incentive opportunity. Compensation will be aligned with the candidate's experience, technical expertise, and ability to manage and grow a commercial agricultural portfolio.
