The Application Analyst II provides excellent customer service by assisting with implementing solutions, maintaining and supporting the assigned applications. Application Analysts study the organization’s current information systems and procedures and design information systems solutions to help the organization operate more efficiently and effectively. Application Analysts bring business and information technology together by understanding the needs and limitations of both. Application Analysts work to build, perform build validation and collaborate with subject matter experts to design and provide input for configuration for clinical information systems.

Motivates team members and provides assistance to Application Analyst I. Experience with Clinical Laboratory workflows and applications preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for implementation, maintenance and support of information systems applications, inclusive of the scheduling of updates of new releases of vendor supported applications.
  • Utilizes advance troubleshooting skills to understand root causes and helps identify solutions.
  • Provides consultation to help solve problems related to supported applications and workflows.
  • Supports multiple customers and complex systems using technical, troubleshooting and problem solving expertise.
  • Evaluates and troubleshoots reported system issues and service requests, data retrieval requests, system performance problems and optimization opportunities, and participates in the timely resolution of these activities.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves application errors and other system issues.
  • Identifies system changes and communicates them to the customer, affected team members and downstream vendor(s).
  • Develops, maintains and shares documentation of assigned application for troubleshooting, building, and training of other ISS team members.
  • Writes test plans and tests systems to evaluate system functions and operating efficiency; tests configurations, customizations and new releases prior to production implementation.
  • Functions as a project leader for information system implementations and support; coordinates resources and timelines; ensures task start/end dates are defined and on time; communicates potential missed deadlines to managers, project managers, directors and end users as needed.
  • Facilitates resolution of application errors within the ISS approved SLA; maintains issue resolution documentation and keeps tickets updated with current status; tracks time worked on tickets.
  • Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction through constant communication and problem resolution; performs on-call application support for 24 x 7 coverage during project implementations; may work non-standard and extended hours.
  • Collaborates with ISS team members, customers, partners and vendors to design, build, test and maintain applications to optimize system configuration and productivity.
  • Interacts with clients or staff to analyze business needs and recommends application solutions; assists with identifying and developing application workflows; gathers user requirements and translates non-technical business requirements into specifications.
  • Escalates issues to the appropriate person or team as needed; identifies system enhancements and evaluates and implements as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • License / Certification Preferred:
    Three ISS management approved certifications/equivalent training in area of scope/support. Must keep all required certifications/equivalent training up-to-date or within three years of original certification/training.
  • Education Preferred:
    Associate’s degree or higher.
