Position Overview
Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse – 12‑Hour Day Shift (Full‑time). Department code: 7570.
Purpose:
Protect and promote health, prevent illness and injury, and alleviate suffering through nursing diagnosis and treatment. Demonstrates leadership in the professional practice setting through oversight of an interdisciplinary health care team to provide holistic care and advocate for patients and families served.
- License / Certification
Required:
CA RN license, BLS, and ACLS within one year of hire/transfer. - Education Preferred: BSN, MSN, or currently enrolled in an RN‑BSN program.
- Practice is guided by the Code of Ethics; displays professional behavior and the organization’s values.
- Identifies high‑risk patients and initiates intervention; makes ethical decisions and actions for patients/residents.
- Maintains patient confidentiality within legal and regulatory parameters.
- Acts as a patient/resident advocate and assists patients/residents in developing self‑advocacy skills.
- Delivers care in a nonjudgmental, nondiscriminatory manner preserving patient autonomy, dignity, and rights.
- Utilizes the nursing process – assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation – assessed via direct observation, peer reviews, audits, documentation.
- Collects clinical data to monitor the quality and effectiveness of nursing care, identifies aspects of care for quality monitoring, and formulates recommendations to improve nursing practice or patient/resident outcomes.
- Assists in development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practice guidelines to improve quality of care and nursing practice.
- Participates on interdisciplinary teams evaluating clinical practice or health services related to patient/resident care; participates in QI studies, including task forces or committees.
- Implements suggestions for improving outcomes per unit study results; independently identifies problematic areas and recommends problem‑solving; shares findings of studies and audits with others; seeks improvement independently.
- Collaborates and communicates with the patient/resident, family, and other health care providers; utilizes peer review and observation; monitors documentation for appropriate referrals.
- Formulates the plan of care and involves patients/residents in decisions related to care and service delivery; makes referrals, including provisions for continuity of care, as needed.
- Assumes Team Leader responsibilities (when applicable): primary clinical resource for staff on assigned unit, role model and mentor, nurse manager representative in absence, provides leadership and support for staff through problem‑solving and decision‑making, supports new employees during orientation, provides input on employee evaluations, ensures float staff receive orientation, manages staff and patient flow, makes staff assignments, coordinates admissions and transfers, monitors shift report timing, monitors breaks, determines staffing needs, assigns staff to ensure equipment checks, coordinates care in high‑risk/emergent situations, ensures collaboration across staff and physicians, maintains documentation and reporting of patient care issues, provides guidance, makes fiscally responsible staffing decisions, provides patient care as needed;
demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the population served; effectively communicates with patient/family; performs duties as assigned.
$46.44–$69.66 per hour.
