Registered Nurse- M​/S Ortho Neuro and Assis

Position Overview

Purpose of this position is to protect and promote health, prevent illness and injury, and alleviate suffering through nursing diagnosis and treatment. Demonstrates leadership in the professional practice setting through oversight of the interdisciplinary health care team to provide holistic care and advocate for patients and families served.

• Pay Range: $46.44 - $69.66

  Required:
  
  California RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Education Preferred: BSN, MSN, or currently enrolled in RN‑BSN program.

• Practice guided by the Code of Ethics, professional behavior, and values.
• Identify high‑risk patients and initiate interventions.
• Act as patient/resident advocate and assist in skills development.
• Deliver care nonjudgmentally and nondiscriminatory.
• Utilize nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) with direct observation, peer reviews, audits, and documentation.
• Collect clinical data, monitor quality and effectiveness, identify aspects for quality monitoring, and formulate recommendations.
• Assist in development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practice guidelines.
• Participate in interdisciplinary teams evaluating clinical practice or health services.
• Participate in QI studies; implement suggestions; share findings.
• Collaborate and communicate with patients/residents, families, and healthcare providers.
• Monitor documentation for appropriate referrals, formulate care plans, involve patients in decisions, and make referrals to ensure continuity of care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Serve as primary clinical resource and mentor for unit staff.
• Act as Nurse Manager Representative in absence of Nurse Manager.
• Support staff through effective problem solving and decision making.
• Coordinate staffing and patient flow, adjust staff assignments based on ability and patient needs.
• Arrange admissions, transfers, and ensure timely shift reports.
• Monitor breaks, maintain adequate staffing, and make fiscally responsible staffing decisions.
• Coordinate equipment checks, patient safety, and critical patient communication.
• Ensure collaboration between staff, physicians, and other providers.
• Document and report care issues, complete Statements of Concern, and comply with chain of command.
• Provide guidance to staff and alert Nurse Manager of counseling needs.
• Maintain patient care and provide support as needed.

• Assign patients to infusion chairs and initiate nursing intake.
• Educate patients on upcoming medications and therapies.
• Start peripheral IVs or central venous access devices (PICC, Port‑a‑Cath).
• Monitor vital signs and patient status throughout treatment.
• Perform medication reconciliation and obtain patient history.
• Administer medications (IV, IM, SQ, PO), IV hydration, blood transfusions, and dressing changes.
• Complete all infusion documentation, discontinue IVs, and provide discharge instructions.
• Maintain competency in IV therapy, infusion pumps, and emergency response procedures.
• Provide telephone triage and patient education on side effects, symptom management, and resources.
