Position: Charge Nurse- M/S Ortho Neuro 4S

Under the direction of the nurse manager and assistant nurse manager, the purpose of this position is to assist with oversight of efficient operations to protect and promote health, prevent illness and injury, and alleviate suffering through nursing diagnosis and treatment.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • License / Certification

    Required:

    CA RN license, BLS, Kaweah Health approved crisis intervention training within 60 days of hire/transfer.
Preferred Certifications
  • Nationally recognized certification per specialty Core Curriculum Pathway.
Education

BSN, MSN, or currently enrolled in RN‑BSN program.

Experience

Minimum of two years RN experience in specialty area department.

Department Specific Requirements
  • If assigned to Emergency Dept, ICU, ICCU, CVICU, Cardiac Services, Medical Telemetry 4T, PACU, ASC, Cath Lab: requires ACLS within one year of hire/transfer.
  • If assigned to NICU, Obstetrics, Labor-Delivery: requires Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider within six months of hire/transfer.
  • If assigned to Pediatrics: requires PALS within six months of hire/transfer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Primary clinical resource and role model for unit staff.
  • Represents unit leadership in the absence of Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, or Director.
  • Provides leadership, problem‑solving, decision making, and clinical support.
  • Supports new employees during orientation and tri‑age of float staff.
  • Manages staff assignments, prioritizes care, and coordinates admissions and transfers.
  • Ensures timely shift reports, monitors breaks, and communicates staffing needs.
  • Oversees equipment checks and sets clear expectations for the team.
  • Facilitates collaboration with physicians and other providers (SBAR, rounding).
  • Coordinates care in high‑risk or emergent situations and reports critical patients.
  • Supports staff morale, maintains a professional environment, and provides counseling guidance.
  • Performs nursing duties as required, follows regulatory compliance, and audits.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Pay Range

$50.24 - $75.36.
